Homelessness and addiction end! Six women recently completed the New Life Recovery Ministry at Shepherd’s Door, the women and children’s ministry of Portland Rescue Mission.
Over the last 12 to 18 months, Mary, Linda, Donnalisa, Kristie, Lauren and Kelly have experienced a total life recovery. Through counseling, they’ve courageously begun to heal from trauma and addiction. They’ve learned new life skills to help them succeed in future employment. And they’ve embraced a new life-giving relationship with God.
“I’m finally doing something right in my life,” says Kristie. At one point, Kristie slept beneath a Portland bridge, exposed to cold and danger. Today, she’s let go of her past to embrace a future filled with peace and gratitude. “I have something to live for. God loves me and cares for me, and that makes me feel worthy.”
Thank you for helping us give something more. More than a meal. More than a bed. You give HOPE.
